We are uniquely fortunate to live in a part of the country where there is an abundance of hockey rinks and town hockey teams within reasonable travel distances. FYHA believes that there are many benefits in choosing town hockey and below are just a few that we suggest should be considered when deciding upon which athletic path to take:
Reasonable cost
Reasonable travel allowing for hockey-life balance (all travel is within the South Shore of Boston)
Less travel allows more time for other sports – developing a more well-rounded athlete
Allows players to play with school friends
Grow as a hockey player with your friends
Consistent players from year to year
Sense of community for both players and parents from the consistent player membership
Ability to carpool to practices and games as we all live in town
Smaller rosters, more puck touches
Ability to play multiple positions, creating a versatile hockey player
USA Hockey certified coaches
Focus on skill and player development
Competitive youth play
While each family needs to choose the path that best suits their situation and desired outcome, Franklin Youth Hockey soundly believes in and endorses the benefits of playing town hockey. So, tape up that stick, lace up those skates and come play with us!
